Printing method and colors
Printing method
Flexography is a printing method where ink is transferred directly to plastic film via printing plates. Separate printing plates are made for each color and mounted around plate sleeves in each respective print unit. The raised areas on the printing plates carry the ink.
Colors
Process colors
By using the CMYK colors cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, most colors can be achieved, thus only requiring the use of four printing units in the printing press to produce fine image prints.
PMS colors
It is a color system consisting of spot colors where each color has its own number and/or name. These colors, which are reproduced in color catalogs, are then mixed based on unique color recipes with a given number of base colors. PMS colors are often used for printing logos or other brand-specific colors.
When printing on transparent plastic film, it's often necessary to add white ink as a base so that the colors appear correctly.
The use of CMYK process colors and the PMS system is device-dependent, meaning the resulting color can vary depending on circumstances such as the material or the thickness of the material it is printed on. Therefore, it is always beneficial to use a "liker," a reference print of some kind, for the printer to match the color against. Our customers are also always welcome to come here at the start of printing to ensure the color turns out as the customer intended.
